Breastfeeding is best for babies and provides many benefits. It is important that, in preparation for and during breastfeeding, you eat a healthy, balanced diet. Combined breast and bottle feeding in the first weeks of life may reduce the supply of your own breast milk, and reversing the decision not to breastfeed is difficult. The social and financial implications of using infant formula should be considered. Improper use of an infant formula or inappropriate foods or feeding methods may present a health hazard. If you use infant formula, you should follow manufacturer’s instructions for correct bottle preparation– failure to follow the instructions may make your baby ill. Always consult your doctor, midwife or health care professional for advice about feeding your baby.

Information for Parents & Carers on DCD – 29th January 2013

Nutricia would like to reassure all parents and carers aware of claims regarding traces of Dicyandiamide (DCD) a farmland treatment found in some New Zealand milk products.

Nutricia has made a thorough investigation and none of the batches that tested positive in DCD were supplied to Nutricia NZ.

Our key priority, as always, is to ensure that premium quality products are available for all mums.

Nutricia can confirm that NO Health or Safety concerns arise and consumers can continue to feel confident in offering Nutricia infant formula and toddler supplements to their infants and toddlers.

Nutricia is able to offer this reassurance for the following brands, produced in New Zealand:

Brand Authorised to be sold in the following markets:

Australian Supply Update – 10th January 2013

Our first and foremost priority is to ensure we are able to supply product of the highest quality to all Australian and New Zealand mums, dads and carers.

Recently the number of Australian mums switching from other brands to Nutricia products has increased. This, coupled with food safety concerns overseas, has generated an unexpected increase in demand for Aptamil formula.

Given this, we are currently not always able to ensure that adequate amounts of Nutricia Aptamil products are available on shelves of some Australian stores.

Over the last three years we have invested heavily to increase production and supply. As a result we have gone from making five thousand tonnes of Nutricia products to twenty thousand tonnes each year.

Because of this increase in demand, Nutricia is currently working with supply partners to increase production capacity by a further 50% over the next 12 months.
